Russian wordlists: Documents

• Passport – Паспорт (‘pasport’)

It is used to designate a document of identity of citizens of the Russian Federation inside the country (analog of an ID). If we are talking about a document for traveling and staying abroad, it is ‘загранпаспорт’ (‘zagranpassport’) or simply ‘загран’ (‘zagran’).

• Birth certificate – Свидетельство о рождении (‘svidetelstvo o rozhdenii’)  
• Marriage certificate – Свидетельство о браке (‘svidetelstvo o brake’)   
• Driving license – Права (‘prava’) 
• Migration card – Миграционная карта (‘migratsionnaya karta’) 

This should be filled out before passing through passport control. The document must be carried with you during the entire stay in the territory and handed in upon departure to the passport control or border checkpoint you are passing through.

• Temporary residence permit – Разрешение на временное пребывание, РВП (‘razresheniye na vremennoye prebyvaniye’ or ‘RVP’) 
• Permanent residence permit – Вид на жительство, ВНЖ (‘vid na zhitelstvo’ or ‘VNZh’)
• Individual insurance account number – Страховой номер индивидуального лицевого счёта (‘СНИЛС’; ‘SNILS’)
  Taxpayer Identification Number – Идентификационный номер налогоплательщика (‘ИНН’; ‘INN’). Is an analog of ‘TIN’.

• Employment record book – Трудовая книжка (‘trudovaya knizhka’)
• Compulsory health insurance – обязательное медицинское страхование (‘ОМС’; ‘OMS’).
  Even foreign citizens who have been legally residing in the Russian Federation for a long time can be granted this free health insurance, though with certain restrictions. 
• Voluntary health insurance – добровольное медицинское страхование (‘ДМС’; DMS).
