The city was founded in 1994 as the future capital of the Republic of Ingushetia. Six years later, Magas officially became the administrative center of the region. Here are three of its main symbols.

1. БАШНЯ СОГЛАСИЯ (Tower of Concord)

The 100-meter Tower of Concord is the tallest observation tower in the North Caucasus. It is an exact copy of a medieval Ingush tower, albeit enlarged several times. Built in 2013, the building is intended to become a symbol of the unity of all residents of Ingushetia.

2. АЛАНСКИЕ ВОРОТА (Alan Gate)

The triumphal entrance gate of the city of Magas was built in 2015 in accordance with the traditions of ancient Ingush architecture. The name is associated with the ancient state of Alania, which was partially located on the territory that is now modern Ingushetia.

3. ПРЕЗИДЕТСКИЙ ДВОРЕЦ (Presidential Palace)

The construction of the city of Magas began with the laying of the first stone of the Presidential Palace on February 23, 1994. In 2011, the title of the position of ‘President of the Republic of Ingushetia’ was changed to ‘Head of the Republic of Ingushetia’, however the palace continues to be unofficially called the Presidential Palace.
