Russia is home to the Amur (Far Eastern) and Persian (Caucasian) leopards. The Amur leopard is the northernmost leopard in the world! It prefers the impenetrable taiga of Primorye over tropical jungles. The Persian leopard, meanwhile, lives in the Caucasus. Both species are very rare and protected by the state.
