She was looking for a better life in the USA... but returned to Russia! (VIDEO)

Elena Yumasheva left Russia for America seeking career opportunities but faced unemployment and disillusionment. After having a child, she returned to Russia, where she found stability, support, and successfully rebuilt her life and career.

Elena Yumasheva grew up in Tambov, Russia. But since her childhood years she dreamed of living abroad, where she could apply her knowledge, unlock her potential and build a successful career. Under a ‘Work and Travel’ program, Elena tried herself as a lifeguard in the United States, but quickly realized that it was not so easy to earn a decent living in America.

Elena then decided to get an education in New York, an experience she is still proud of. However, after graduation, it was not possible to find a job with her degree. During her years in the United States, she faced a harsh reality: freedom of speech was not so free as she thought, and the scale of the migration crisis revealed serious problems in major cities and even some entire states.

After having a child, Elena realized that it was becoming increasingly difficult to raise a kid in these conditions. She then made the difficult decision to return to Russia, to her homeland, where she was met with support, stability and a sense of belonging to something greater.

Today, Elena feels fulfilled: she is building a career, raising her child in a safe and comfortable environment, and looking to the future with confidence. Her journey is a story about finding yourself, being disappointed abroad, and picking a home where you will always be accepted and supported.
