Russian dozen
Many politicians, writers and philosophers have sought the key to understanding mysterious and remote Russia. But even today, most foreign films show Russians walking around in fur hats with ear flaps—even in the summer. To dispel such myths and tell the truth about the beauty and rich history of Russia, about the psychology and daily life of Russians and the hundreds of other peoples inhabiting this enormous country, we have created the column "The Russian Dozen." We will fill it with materials on the stereotypical behaviors, rules and taboos, people and places that characterize Russia best. Some of them may seem amusing, some of them outmoded, but the majority of them have taken root in the Russian conscience, and knowledge of these fine points will benefit those who want to find a common language with their Russian partners.
Editors Note: The Russian Dozen is intended solely for the entertainment of our readers, and all of our rankings are the result of lively discussion among RBTH editors and in no way reflect any particular viewpoint.
