2. Viggo Tarasov (‘John Wick’, 2014)

Keanu Reeves' main antagonist in the first ‘John Wick’ movie is Viggo Tarasov, a Russian mafia boss in New York City. He is an extremely cruel and intelligent man. His son's foolish actions put him in conflict with one of the city's top hitmen. Realizing that a peaceful resolution is impossible, he declares a manhunt for Wick.

Viggo Tarasov was played by Swedish actor Michael Nyqvist, known for his roles in the ‘Millennium’ trilogy and one installment of the ‘Mission: Impossible’ franchise.

3. Yorgi (‘xXx’, 2002)

Yorgi is a former soldier in the Russian army who, along with a group of his fellow soldiers, moves to Prague, where he organizes the criminal group called ‘Anarchy-16’. Quickly fed up with his luxurious lifestyle, he plans a terrorist attack that will shock the entire world. Only the extreme sports enthusiast Xander Cage, also known as ‘xXx’, can stop him.

4. Ivan Tretyak (‘The Saint’, 1997)

Russia, 1990s. The country is experiencing a deep economic crisis and an oligarch named Ivan Tretyak is striving for power. 6. Teddy KGB (‘Rounders’, 1998)

Teddy KGB is the owner of an underground gambling club in the cult poker movie ‘Rounders’. He is the opposite of protagonist Mike McDermott, played by Matt Damon. Their intense poker duels are still discussed in detail on various websites and forums dedicated to the game.

7. Teddy (‘The Equalizer’, 2014)

‘The Equalizer’ also features a Russian villain named Teddy, however far more brutal than Malkovich's character. His real name is Nikolai Itchenko. He served in the special forces and later became the chief henchman of Russian mafia boss Vladimir Pushkin, leading an army of thugs like himself.

Teddy became yet another Hollywood Russian villain brilliantly portrayed by the abovementioned Marton Csokas.

8. Alexey (‘Caught Stealing’, 2025)

Alexey is a small-time gangster from 1990s New York, who carries out various assignments for the big shots. He has no restraints or moral principles and he will go to extremes to achieve his goals – which is why his employers value him.

Yuri Kolokolnikov, who plays Alexey, is arguably the most sought-after Russian actor in Hollywood today. He has worked on numerous U.S. movies and television series, including ‘Game of Thrones’.

9. Pavel (‘Caught Stealing’, 2025)

Pavel is Alexey's indispensable partner, even more reckless, dashing and vicious. They work superbly together, as demonstrated by the scene at the beginning of the movie, in which they beat up main character Henry Thompson.

Nikita Kukushkin, who plays Pavel, isn't yet as well-known in Hollywood as Kolokolnikov, but he's actively working towards it. Meanwhile, on February 16, 2024, the Russian Ministry of Justice designated him a foreign agent.

10. Nikolai Luzhin (‘Eastern Promises’, 2007)

Nikolay Luzhin works as a driver and henchman, carrying out dirty work for a Russian mafia boss. He doesn't want to spend his entire life as a "little underling" – he's aiming to reach the very top of the criminal underworld.

12. Aleksandr Kodoroff (‘The Peacemaker’, 1997)

He was once a professional soldier, but later turned to crime. Major General of the Russian Army, Aleksandr Kodorov organizes the theft of nuclear weapons to sell them on the black market. Without batting an eye, he kills dozens of security soldiers and even orchestrates a small nuclear explosion to cover up his crime.

13. Vladimir Popov (‘Die Another Day’, 2002)

At first glance, this man is an ordinary, harmless nerd. In fact, he is the creator of the devastating ‘Icarus’ weapon and one of the main henchmen of Bond villain Colonel Tan-Sung Moon from North Korea.

19. Yegor Korshunov (‘Air Force One’, 1997)

American special forces capture General Ivan Radek, the leader of Kazakhstan, who intends to restore the USSR. Soon, a group of terrorists, led by the fanatic Yegor Korshunov, infiltrates the U.S. presidential plane disguised as journalists. They want to capture the U.S. leader and demand his release.

21. Ivan Vanko (‘Iron Man 2’, 2010)

Another Russian scientist villain, Ivan Vanko from the second ‘Iron Man’ film, is also obsessed with revenge. He mistakenly blames the Stark family for deceiving and betraying his father, scientist Anton Vanko. Ivan travels to the United States to create an army of drones and kill Tony.

22. Dmitry Durov (‘Hunter Killer’, 2018)
