According to the data of 2010 Russian Census, there are 1,117 cities and towns in Russia. Of these, as many as 16 have more than one million people.

Russia has the fourth most million-plus cities, after China (102), India (46) and Brazil (17). And a quarter of the entire population of the country lives in them!

Leading, of course, is the capital, Moscow, with a population of more than 13 million people. It is followed by the “cultural capital” – St. Petersburg with 5 million inhabitants.
