Gelendzhik in 3 Russian words

Vitaly Timkiv/Sputnik
This is one of Russia's most popular Black Sea resorts. It's home to the country's largest open-air water park. Here are three more symbols of this city.

1. СКАЛА «ПАРУС» (‘Sail’ Rock)

Vitaly Timkiv/Sputnik

This 30-meter-high rock near Gelendzhik is famous for its distinctive shape, resembling a ship's sail. It partially extends right onto the adjacent beach and anyone can take a selfie with it. However, swimming near the rock is unsafe, due to strong currents.

2. НАБЕРЕЖНАЯ ГЕЛЕНДЖИКА (Gelendzhik Embankment)

Konstantin Mikhalchevsky/Sputnik

This is one of the longest embankments in the world! It's just over nine km long. In addition to cafes, restaurants and an amusement park, it features many beautiful monuments, sculptures and fountains.

3. «САФАРИ-ПАРК» (‘Safari Park’)

Mikhail Mordasov/Sputnik

This huge safari park offers the opportunity to see rare animal species in the wild and enjoy the beautiful views of the Caucasus Mountains. You can observe the animals both on the lower level or via a cable car. The safari park also features an arboretum, home to over 40 species of plants listed in the Red Book.
