3 EASY steps to start learning Russian
Let’s be honest: learning any new language is not that easy. However, everything is possible and everything can be done in a funny, engaging and not boring way!
Step One. Just take a look at the Cyrillic alphabet
Many of those who start learning Russian are afraid of this from the beginning. But, be calm! You already know half or even more of the alphabet!
The letters ‘A’, ‘T’, ‘O’, ‘M’ and ‘K’ are the same in Russian as they are in English. And the Russian letters ‘П’ and ‘Д’ look almost the same as the Greek letters ‘Pi’ (π) and ‘Delta’ (Δ), that you might remember from your math class!
Step Two. Listen to Russian speech
Turn on some Russian music. Have you heard the ‘Matushka Zemlya’ song, which is now very popular? It’s already got 129 million views on ‘YouTube’ and, admit it, one is yours, isn’t it?
Or pick one of the many Russian or Soviet movies just to hear how the speech sounds. But, please, don’t try to learn the language via Hollywood movies portraying bad Russians (or via Emilia Clarke’s character in the recent ‘PONIES’ TV show on ‘Peacock’).
