What are the 'Harry Potter' characters called... in Russian? (VIDEO)

Fans of the franchise would be surprised to hear the name of Harry and Hermione sound different in Russian! The most Russian American, Tim Kirby, pronounces them out loud - so you don't have to!

In Russia, there are plenty of Harry Potter fans.

But do you know what they actually call Harry Potter? It’s Гарри Поттер.

Гарри. Really. Garry. That’s actually the Russian tradition to translate this name. English Prince Harry is also Гарри. Why do Russians change H’s into G’s? No one really knows.

Ok, what about the other characters from Hogwarts?

Hermione is Гермиона…

Neville Longbottom is referred to as... Невил Долгопупс...

Professor Severus Snape is Северус Снегг! Or like Professor Snow in Russian.

Волан-де-Морт is the extremely heavily pronounced version of Lord Voldemort.

Ron Weasley is a lucky one, he is Рон Уизли.
