A Russian word that has become a designation for lightly salted delicacies of the highest quality.
‘Malossol’ (English, German, French, Spanish ‘malossol’) comes from the Russian phrase “malo soli” ("little salt"). In foreign languages, the term is used mainly for lightly salted caviar with a salt content of 2–4%. Such caviar is considered a product of the highest quality. In addition, the word has also become established for lightly salted cucumbers and lightly salted fish.
