These English words DON'T exist in Russian! (VIDEO)

The Russian language is rich and has many words that are barely translated into other languages. But, even Russian lacks some notion. The most Russian American, Tim Kirby, reveals some of them...

1. Toddler

The Russian language has many words to define a baby – малыш, ребёнок. But, there is no certain word for a child that has recently learned to walk.

2. Siblings

In Russian, brother is ‘брат’ and sister is ‘сестра’. But there is no word for them collectively.

3. Grandparents

Parents would be ‘родители’ in Russian, but there is no such word as grandparents. Russians would call them separately – бабушка and дедушка.

4. Toe

Not because Russians don’t have toes… but they just call them fingers, too. Пальцы на руках, пальцы на ногах.

5. Thirsty

A Russian can be hungry (‘голодный’), but there is no adjective such as thirsty in Russian. Thirst is ‘жажда’, so if one wants to drink so badly, one can literally say ‘wants to drink’ (хочу пить)

6. Privacy

Probably because of decades of Soviet communal living, Russians didn’t have such a thing as privacy. But recently, they started using a transliteration – приватность.
