The ‘shmel’ is a large relative of the honeybee and one of the few pollinators that work even in rainy weather. Its thick furry coat keeps it warm. About 50 species of bumblebees live in Russia. The largest is the carpenter bumblebee, which can reach up to 3 cm in length.
