Task 1: Listen to the audio & repeat the examples

1. А: Куда вы идёте?
В: Мы идём в бар.

А: Where are you going?
В: We’re going to the bar.

2. А: Куда ты идёшь?
В: Я иду в аптеку.

А: Where are you going?
В: I’m going to the pharmacy.

When talking about direction of motion, use the preposition ‘в’ + noun in the Accusative case like in the examples above. When you ask about a direction, use the question word ‘куда’.

We’ve already learnt the Accusative case in Unit 2. There, it was used to indicate the direct object of the action. Let’s review the basic rule for Accusative case:

Masculine, Neuter

Feminine

no change

парк →  идти в парк

музей →  в музей

аптека → идти в аптеку

школа → в школу

☝идти на работу = to go to work

идти домой = to go home
