When talking about direction of motion, we use the prepositions ‘в’ or ‘на’ and nouns in the Accusative case. The distribution of nouns between prepositions ‘в’ and ‘на’ is the same as with the prepositional case (review in Unit 8 here and here).

Here are some examples:

1. Завтра я иду в театр на балет.
I’m going to the theater to watch ballet tomorrow.

2. Утром мы идём в лес.
We are going to the forest in the morning.

3. Зимой они едут в горы.
They are going to the mountains in winter.

4. Завтра мы идём на пляж.
We are going to the beach tomorrow.

5. Летом я еду в отпуск на море.
I’m going to the sea on vacation in summer.

6. В январе он едет в командировку в Рим.
He is going to Rome on a business trip in January.
