How did a Russian mountaineer make it into the Guinness World Records?

Alina Pekova became the youngest woman to conquer the world’s 14 highest mountains. .

Mountaineer Alina Pekova, who has climbed all of the world's eight-thousanders, has been officially entered into the Guinness World Records. She is recognized as the youngest woman to have climbed all 14 peaks. At the time, she was just 31 years old.

Alina was born in Kabardino-Balkaria and began taking an interest in mountaineering in 2017.

It took her about a year and a half to climb the world's highest peaks. The first was Annapurna I (8,081 m) in the Himalayas in April 2023 and the last was Mount Shishapangma (8,027 m) – also in the Himalayas – in October 2024.

Furthermore, Alina also became the first person from Russia to successfully summit these peaks.
