Italy didn’t live up to expectations: going back home to Russia (VIDEO)

Dmitry Buyanov moved from Russia to Italy in search of a better life, but after facing unexpected difficulties and finding that life there didn’t meet his expectations, he decided to return to Russia, where he saw more opportunities. In his interview, he shares honest insights about living and doing business in both countries.

Dmitry Buyanov was born and raised in the south of Russia. He graduated from a university in his homeland and started building a business. In short, he should have confident in the future. However, in 2014 Dmitry made the spontaneous decision to leave for Italy in search of a better life. He was convinced that Russia was lagging behind developed European countries in various ways.

The reality of the big move turned out to be harsh: on his very first day in Italy, Dmitry was robbed. And that would not be the only time he got robbed! With each passing day, his ideas of a "European paradise" were crumbling. He tried to start a new life, build a business, and adapt, but more and more often he found himself thinking that the country was not as developed as he had previously thought.

In the end, Dmitry decided to return to Russia, where, in his opinion, there were still opportunities to make it big. In the interview, we talked about his experiences living abroad. Dmitry honestly and without embellishment told us how things are with the healthcare system, living conditions, doing business, taxes and salaries in today’s Italy.
