How St. Petersburg is decorated for the New Year 2026 (PHOTOS)
1. St. Petersburg is welcoming 2026 with pre-revolutionary-style decorations. Luminous crowns have reappeared on Nevsky Prospect, the city's main thoroughfare.
2. The city is famous for its canals, which have also been transformed for the New Year. A scarlet heart and shimmering garlands have appeared on the Griboedov Canal.
3. The city's main Christmas tree was lit up on Palace Square. It’s a live, 30-meter-tall live spruce tree, delivered in mid-December.
4. Like last year, it’s decorated with flags and Soviet-style ornaments.
5. A large ice slide has also been installed on Palace Square. The descent is 65 meters long! And it’s free to ride!
6. Nearby, near the Winter Palace, you can take a stroll under illuminated arches.
7. A "garden of light", meanwhile, has appeared on St. Isaac's Square – a winter garden with luminous Christmas trees and fountains.
8. The figures of blooming flowers look especially interesting.
9. Many ice rinks have also opened in St. Petersburg. One of the most atmospheric is on New Holland Island.
10. On the central streets, fairs are operating for guests and tourists, where they can warm up with tea and enjoy entertainment with dancing and singing.
