A provincial woman arrives in Moscow, pretends to be the daughter of a professor, and gets pregnant by a Muscovite from an intellectual family. The marriage having failed, she has to raise her child alone, while working and studying at the same time. Twenty years later, she becomes the director of a large enterprise… This movie about dreams coming true picked up an Oscar for best foreign film.
