The words ‘sable’ and ‘tundra’ came to foreign languages from Russian
Russian words are found in many languages of the world!
In English, French, German and even Japanese, you will find words borrowed from Russian. But, these are not only the words ‘ruble’, ‘tsar’, ‘glasnost’ or ‘satellite’, but also animal names and climatic zones.
Thus, the words ‘sable’ and ‘mammoth’ appeared in European languages, as well as ‘tundra’, ‘taiga’ and ‘steppe’. They entered these foreign languages several centuries ago!
