В – Вавилов
Nikolai Vavilov (1887–1943) – a pioneering Soviet botanist and geneticist.
Through 180 expeditions across the USSR and 50 abroad, he discovered centers of crop origin (including disease-resistant potato varieties) and assembled a unique seed bank (tens of thousands of specimens).
His colleagues preserved his collection at unimaginable cost – even during the Siege of Leningrad. Today, his work safeguards global food security.
