Russian Language Exported: BALACLAVA
This headgear, found in many wardrobes, got its name in memory of the Crimean War.
A balaclava is a knitted “helmet” that covers the head and face. It got its name after the Crimean War (1853–1856), when British soldiers first used such liners to protect themselves from the freezing temperatures near Balaklava. The name of the location has forever become a household name in English and other languages for this piece of equipment.
