Ю – Юрий Долгорукий
In the year 1147, Prince Yuri Dolgorukiy (‘Long-Arms’) (c.1090s-1157) sent an invitation to his ally, Prince Svyatoslav of Novgorod-Seversky, to Moscow. This letter is the first written mention of the city. He later fortified the settlement with walls, planting the seed for Russia's future capital. Beyond Moscow, he also founded Kostroma, Dmitrov and Pereslavl-Zalessky.
