Russian Language Exported: MAZUT
This type of fuel got its name in Russian and entered the world alongside oil tankers.
‘Mazut’ (English: ‘mazut’, German: ‘Masut’, French: ‘mazout’) is a heavy petroleum fuel, the residue left after distilling gasoline and kerosene. Russia became the main supplier of this term to the world’s technical vocabulary. In the 20th century, along with Soviet tankers and the export of petroleum products, the word became firmly established in English, German, French and other languages.
