Large and formidable, musk oxen are among the most ancient animals on our planet.
The musk ox is a contemporary of the mammoth! Its fur is eight times warmer than sheep's wool – all to help it survive the harsh conditions of the Arctic. In times of danger and during snowstorms, the herd forms a semicircle: the smaller animals in the center, the larger ones on the flanks. This is even how they move across the tundra.
