A colourful bandit of the Far Eastern forests – the largest marten in Russia.

The yellow-throated marten or ‘harza’ is a large marten with an unusual colouring: its chest and throat are bright yellow, while its back is dark brown with a golden sheen. It lives in the forests of the Russian Far East and the Amur Region. It is an excellent hunter: it preys on musk deer, roe deer and even young wild boars, often hunting in packs. It can leap from branch to branch up to four meters. Its main predator is the tiger.
