Let’s make the Prepositional case form of the nouns from the previous lesson (review the rule in Unit 8).

NOTE!

1) The prepositional case form of the plural noun uses the ‘-ах’ ending: горы → в горах

2) Some masculine nouns use the ‘-у’ ending in the Prepositional case: сад → в саду, лес → в лесу, аэропорт → в аэропорту, etc.

3) ‘Пляж’ and ‘дача’ are always used with the ‘на’ preposition.

4) ‘Море’ can take both ‘в’ and ‘на’ prepositions, depending on context.
‘В’ is used when talking about location or activities beneath the surface, for example: “плавать в море” (“to swim in the sea”).
‘На’ is used when talking about location or activities on the surface of the sea or on the seashore, for example: “отдыхать на море” (“to spend vacation by the sea”).

5. В июле мы отдыхали на море.
We spent a vacation by the sea in July.
