In order to ask a question about possession, use the question word ‘чей’ (‘whose’). ‘Чей’ changes according to the gender and number of the noun: ‘чей’ (m), ‘чья’ (f), ‘чьё’ (n), ‘чьи’ (pl).

1. A: Чей это рюкзак?
В: Это его рюкзак.

A: Whose backpack is it?
B: It’s his backpack.

2. A: Чья это ручка?
В: Это её ручка.

A: Whose pen is it?
B: This is her pen.

3. A: Чьё это вино?
В: Это их вино.

A: Whose wine is it?
B: It’s their wine.

4. A: Чьи это очки?
В: Это мои очки.

A: Whose glasses are these?
B: They’re my glasses.
