To ask the price, we use the phrase “сколько стоит”. 

Listen to the audio & repeat:

1. A: Скажите, пожалуйста, сколько стоит соль?
B: Она стоит 60 рублей

A: Could you please tell me how much the salt costs?
B: It costs 60 rubles.

2. A: Здравствуйте! А сколько стоит сметана?
B: Она стоит 70 рублей.

A: Hello! And how much does the sour cream cost?
B: It costs 70 rubles.

The verb ‘стоить’ (to cost) agrees in number with the noun. Compare:

Singular:

Сколько стоит хлеб?
How much does the bread cost?

Plural:

Сколько стоят яблоки?
How much do the apples cost?
