Animate nouns in plural have the same endings in Accusative and Genitive cases.

Я люблю собак.
I like dogs.

Мария любит детей.
Maria likes kids.

Я встретила друзей.
I met with friends.

У нас нет собак.
We don’t have dogs.

У Марии нет детей.
Maria doesn’t have children.

У меня много друзей.
I have many friends.

In Unit 12, we learnt that animate masculine singular nouns also have the same endings in Accusative and Genitive cases.
