LESSON 7: ALL DAY, ALL NIGHT
Listen to the audio & repeat out loud:
1. Лена работала весь день.
Lena worked all day.
2. В Москве тепло всю неделю.
It's been warm in Moscow all week.
3. Наш дизайнер всё утро рисовал картину.
Our designer spent the whole morning drawing a picture.
4. Мы будем отдыхать все выходные.
We will be resting all weekend.
The pronoun ‘весь’ means ‘all’ or ‘whole’ like in the expressions “all day long” or “the whole week”. However, in Russian, ‘весь’ changes according to gender, number and case.
all | example | |
masculine | весь | весь день |
feminine | вся | всю неделю* |
neutral | всё | всё утро |
plural | все | все выходные |
* The structure “весь + time period” is used in the Accusative case. That’s why the compounds with feminine nouns change the endings: вся неделя → всю неделю (the whole week).
