1. КАРАВАН-САРАЙ (The Caravanserai)
This complex, built in an Oriental style during the first half of the 19th century, served irregular military units of Bashkirs and Mishar Tatars. It housed the command staff and troops and included a school for boys, a mosque and a minaret. During the Soviet era, the Bashkir Pedagogical College and a planetarium operated there at various times; today, it houses the Orenburg Region Chamber of Commerce and Industry and a mosque.
2. МОСТ «ЕВРОПА — АЗИЯ» (The ‘Europe–Asia’ Bridge)
This white pedestrian suspension bridge over the Ural River is a signature landmark of Orenburg and one of the favorite spots for locals and tourists to take a stroll. It also serves as a symbolic boundary between the two continents; boundary markers inscribed with ‘Europe’ and ‘Asia’ stand at its center. In reality, however, the actual border lies somewhat further east.
