In Unit 12 you have learnt the question word ‘почему?’ (why) and ‘потому что’ (because). If you need to tell the arguments first, you will need the word “поэтому”:

The same idea can be expressed with ‘поэтому’:

Я был занят, поэтому я не позвонил.
I was busy, that’s why I didn’t call.
