‘Parka’ (English: ‘parka’, German: ‘Parka’, French: ‘parka’) – is the historical name for the outer clothing of northern peoples. The word is of Nenets origin. Russian pioneers in Siberia adopted this word and it then found its way into foreign languages. Today, it is used to describe warm hooded jackets.
