How to book a hotel in Russia in 2026
Even if you don’t have a Russian bank card, you can still find and book hotels, apartments or other accommodation in various cities in advance.
Online payment with a foreign card
You can find and prepay for a hotel using ‘Visa’, ‘Mastercard’ or ‘Maestro’ through aggregator platforms that work with Russian hotel databases. The largest databases are available on:

Pay on arrival or with a Russian card
You can choose to pay after arriving in Russia – either in cash or with a Russian bank card (learn how to get one here).

Booking directly on hotel websites
Most hotels in Russia only accept on-site payment with Russian bank cards or cash. Some hotels accept ‘UnionPay’, but this should be confirmed at the time of booking.
If you prefer not to use aggregators, you can book directly with the hotel. International hotel chains usually offer English versions of their websites.
