The total validity period of the visa has also been extended to 120 days.

Starting from August 23, 2025, citizens from 64 countries can stay in Russia on an e-visa for 30 days. Furthermore, the total validity period of the Russian visa is now 120 days from the date of issue.

For those who obtained their visa before August 23, the previous rules still apply: 16 days of stay in Russia and a 60-day visa validity period.

Citizens of 64 countries (including the EU, China, Singapore, India, and Iran) can visit Russia on a single-entry e-visa. It is issued for tourism, business trips, and participation in cultural, scientific and sports events. If traveling for other purposes (e.g., studying or working in Russia), you will need to apply for the appropriate visa type (more details here).

No invitation letter or hotel booking confirmation is required for an e-visa.

There’s an important condition: entry into Russia must be through designated border checkpoints (the list of airports and land crossings is available on the e-visa website).

E-visa step by step

  1. Fill out the online form (if traveling with children, a separate visa is required for each).
  2. Pay with a bank card.
  3. Receive the visa via email.
  4. Upon entry into Russia, present your visa (on your phone or as a printout) to the border control officer.

According to the rules, anyone who obtains their visa from August 23 can stay in Russia for a period of up to 30 days. However, keep in mind that the day of arrival and the day of departure count as two separate days. To avoid any future issues with obtaining a Russian visa, we advise you to plan your trip carefully.

Remember: foreigners in Russia must complete their registration within seven days of entry. If you stay at a hotel, they will handle this process for you. If you stay in a private apartment, however, you must complete it yourself (instructions here).
